APROL R 4.4-65: Enhanced Multicore Support

APROL R 4.4-65 benefits from multicore processing in B&R Automation Runtime, enabling controller workloads to be distributed efficiently across available CPU cores.

IEC task classes 1 through 8 can be assigned to specific cores by the user. This provides deterministic control over cyclic applications and helps prioritize time-critical tasks.

Background processes including asynchronous function blocks, ANSL communication and multicore-enabled mapp Technology packages are automatically assigned to the least-utilized cores. Automation Runtime continuously balances these workloads to make effective use of the controller’s processing capacity.

Time-critical communication packages also receive enhanced multicore support. OPC UA Client/Server and OPC UA FX workloads can be balanced automatically across CPU cores, improving performance without requiring manual task distribution.

The result: Flexible core assignment for cyclic applications combined with automatic load balancing for background and communication tasks.
