Automation Studio 2.7 Base Installation needed – System 2005 / 3CP260.60-1 / SG3 backup

Hello,

I am maintaining a Genius 52 printing press manufactured in 2003, equipped with a B&R System 2005 control system.

The machine is currently operational and my primary goal is to create a safe disaster-recovery backup before making any changes to the PLC.

Hardware

  • B&R System 2005
  • CPU: 3CP260.60-1
  • Power supply: 3PS465.9
  • Interface module: 3IF672.9
  • Interface module: 3IF681
  • Original PCMCIA memory card is installed
  • Existing Ethernet connection between IF681 and the machine HMI
  • CPU RS232 interface available

Problem

I need the Automation Studio 2.7 Base Installation.

I can find the AS 2.7.0.25 SP18 upgrade, but I cannot obtain the original AS 2.7 Base Installation Medium.

I specifically need the Base Installation, not only the SP18 upgrade.

Backup question

I do not have the original Automation Studio source project.

Before attempting any programming or modifications, I would like to make the safest possible complete backup of the running 3CP260.60-1 / SG3 system.

I found information on this Community that Runtime Utility Center can be used to backup/restore SG3 targets, even though the original editable source project cannot be recovered from the PLC.

Could someone please advise:

  1. Can someone from B&R provide the Automation Studio 2.7 Base Installation Medium?

  2. For backup only, would Runtime Utility Center (RUC) be a better/safer choice than Automation Studio?

  3. Which version of Runtime Utility Center / PVI should be used with a 3CP260.60-1 System 2005 SG3 target?

  4. Can the complete executable application, Automation Runtime and configuration be backed up over the CPU RS232 interface and later restored to an identical 3CP260.60-1?

  5. Is there a recommended procedure/document for creating a full disaster-recovery backup of a CP260 without modifying anything on the running PLC?

  6. Is there any additional backup procedure recommended for the original PCMCIA memory card?

The machine is currently running correctly, so my priority is read/backup only. I do not want to perform a download, Automation Runtime update, memory initialization or any operation that could modify the existing PLC until a verified backup exists.

Any help from someone experienced with System 2005 / SG3 / CP260 would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your reply. We have already contacted the local B&R support in Serbia, but unfortunately they were unable to help us with this issue.

Is there any other way you could assist us?

Who have you contacted in Serbia? I’ve checked locations on our website and there is none in Serbia. “Unable to help us” means they can’t provide you Automation Studio or can’t help you with the backup?

Thank you for your support. I contacted ABB Serbia and they couldn’t help me. Your earlier answer is correct and I managed to back up a lot. I would like to have AS v2.7 just in case, but at the moment it is not primary.
