Inquiry Regarding Camera Distortion Compensation and Calibration Verification

Dear Technical Support Team,

We are currently using the following system configuration:

  • CPU: APC2200
  • Vision Camera: VSC523R25.051P-000

We performed camera calibration using a calibration plate and would like to verify whether the calibration result is functioning correctly.

Could you please help us with the following questions?

  1. Is lens/camera distortion compensation applied in this smart camera system?
    • Is it possible to verify the distortion correction visually from the captured image?
  2. How can we confirm that the calibration data is working properly?
    • Please refer to the attached calibration images and results.
    • We would appreciate it if you could review whether the calibration was completed successfully and whether the calibration data is being applied correctly.

Thank you for your support. We look forward to your feedback.

Best regards,

It looks like you have successfully calibrated the camera.

  1. You can see from the mapp Vision HMI header that the calibration is applied and also the results seem plausible

  2. For the calibration quality / success you can check the RMS errors in the calibration editor. In the help it is stated that the RMSE should be in the order of 0.1 pixels.

This also seems to be OK in your images

You could also enable the image overlays in the calibration editor and check if they seem to make sense to you in your images. See the “Overlay Images” section from the link below.
