Issue with B&R ACOPOS P3 drive with 8EAC0122.001-1 Resolver Interface Module

I am facing an intermittent axis fault on a machine using a B&R ACOPOS P3 drive with 8EAC0122.001-1 Resolver Interface Module.

Issue Description

  • During motor start, the axis trips with the following errors:
    • 29214
    • 7032
    • 5034
  • Initially, these errors would occur occasionally, and after a reset the machine would run normally for some time.
  • Recently, the fault has become more severe:
    • After the error occurs, a power cycle does not clear the fault.
    • The same errors remain active after reboot.
    • After approximately 5-6 hours, the errors clear automatically and the axis operates normally again.

Hardware

  • Drive: ACOPOS P3
  • Resolver Module: 8EAC0122.001-1
  • Feedback: Resolver

Request

Has anyone experienced a similar issue with these fault codes on an ACOPOS P3 drive?

I would appreciate any suggestions regarding:

  • Resolver feedback issues
  • Resolver module failure (8EAC0122.001-1)
  • Encoder/resolver cable problems
  • Motor resolver faults
  • Drive hardware faults
  • Recommended diagnostics to identify the root cause

Thank you in advance for your support.

for me it looks like hw issue or bad cable connection. Since it was running I do not expect sw issue there.

  • Check for bent or damaged pins in the connector
  • Disconnect and reconnect the resolver cable at both ends (motor and drive)
  • Try a different resolver cable if available - intermittent faults often point to cable issues first
  • Swap the 8EAC0122.001-1 module with a known-good unit to isolate module vs. cable failure

Hello,

I agree with @kovarj

I may add…
Due to the Main Error 7032 “Signal Amplitude to small”, the other 2 Errors seem to be a following issue 29214 , 5034 “Can’t do Reference due to Encoder issue”

8EAC0122.001-1 does work as 2 Encoder on a P3 Axis
You can make a Trace of ParIDs to see issue on ADC-Values of Resolver.
