Can X20SM1436 module work with a 5V encoder signal instead of the rated 24V?
99% chances the answer is no…
And i have the following question for you…
IF X20SM1446-1 is designed for 24Volts can work with 5V (like your case)
Why B&R has generated the variant X20SM1444-1?

To phrase it another way, the X20SM1444-1 encoder input is rated for 5 V (symmetrical), so this might be a more suitable module for your use case. It would be worth checking out and discussing with your B&R sales representative
