ADIOPCUA server - adding some custom nodes inside OPCUA Configuration?

Good morning,
with ADIOpcuaserver it is possible to install an opcuaserver on the panel for reading information about panel hw like keys and ring and everything related to ADI control center. Is it also possible to modify its opcua configuration for adding a custom node, eg. adding some nodes for exchange data between plc (that acts as opcua client) and panel?

Hi @tullio.quirini1 ,
I see we have an helpful user’s manual available for ADI OPC UA Server (Win10 64-bit) | B&R Industrial Automation

Based on the documentation and product description, ADI OPC UA Server is a dedicated gateway that exposes the ADI (Automation Device Interface) data model via OPC UA. Its purpose is to make panel/PC hardware information available (keys, LEDs, temperatures, voltages, device information, etc.) through a predefined OPC UA address space. It is described as providing ADI functions and information as OPC UA variables, not as a general-purpose configurable OPC UA server.

From what I can find, there is no documented feature to extend the ADI OPC UA Server namespace with user-defined nodes, variables, or custom objects. The server appears to build its address space automatically from the available ADI modules and hardware features.

Therefore, if your goal is:

  • PLC = OPC UA Client
  • Panel = OPC UA Server
  • Exchange custom process data between them

then ADI OPC UA Server is probably not the right mechanism.

Instead, you would typically need a separate OPC UA server running on the panel that exposes your own nodes and variables, and the PLC will connect as an OPC UA client.

Again this is what I understood from the documentation.

Hi Valerio, thanks for your reply.. My goal is exactly what you mentioned in your post . I will try another solution , so i will try to install another opcuaserver inside panel. Thanks
