Для ознакомления с программированием контроллеров CP260 какую версию ПО необходимо или достаточно использовать?
If Im not mistaken, for CP260 you will need Automation Studio. What version I do not known, I would need to search for it. But this is very old plc, so you probably do not want to develop new project, right? So is it about service of existing project? If so, you would need to get in contact with machine producer.
Is it possible to transfer the program from the CP260 to a newer controller?
The equipment manufacturer offers simple repairs, if possible…

I think that for this Runtime Utility center can be used, here is old manual how to backup SG3 target. You can not read and edit project, but backup and restore should be possible from my point of view. CPU must be the same type, otherwise it will not work.
HowToBackupSG3Targets_eng_AT.pdf (1.0 MB)
Can you advise me what processor I should take to replace the CP260!?
If you want to backup and restore a project and you do not have source files, you cannot replace the CPU. The new CPU must be the same type as the original one.
Is B&R different from Siemens? The project is not downloaded from the controller?
I haven’t encountered B&R programming yet, I’m just starting to get acquainted…

Yes B&R is different from Siemens, B&R programs are compiled to machine code then sent to the PLC for execution. So if you didn’t have the source code of a PLC you cannot retreive it from the PLC.
@florent.boissadier so it is like that from Siemens PLC you can upload source project and reused it, even if you are not author of it?
but can I make a duplicate of the executable code for re-uploading into a “new” same controller?!

Can we buy CP260 from you?

Yep on Siemens you can open the project direclty from the PLC, I’m pretty sure there is some security to avoid anyone access it.
I’ve never work with this old type of controller so not sure but should be able to clone the Compact Flash drive from your existing CP260 and put it in a new CP260 PLC. I’m not sure this PLC is available. Maybe @kovarj know?
we don’t have a memory card installed in it! i wanted to try to download the program from it, buy another controller and write this program to the “new” controller…

What software can I try to download from the CP260 controller?
ср, 3 сент. 2025 г. в 11:55, Florent Boissadier via B&R Community <notifications@brcommunity.discoursemail.com>:
I have already shared a document on how to upload modules and download them to a new controller. That should be possible. But the controller must be the same. Otherwise, a new project is needed.
Please advise. What interface cable is needed to connect to the CPU260? As I understand, the Siemens DP cable is also not suitable?

Yes. I can download a working project with a full configuration of hardware and communication links from the Siemens controller! It will only lack a description of variables and names of chains - this must be restored by myself. And after that I can change the original project as I need.
