Edit xml file by external program

hi guys,

I have a VC4 page, we know it was stored as .page file as XML format inside Visu folder.
my idea is to modify this .page file by external program like notepad++ so I can quickly change the properties(such as the datapoint) of multiple controls in a single enviorment, instead of tedious steps in AS.

I do tried it, but each time I modified manually, AS always change it back to “None” when I open the project. It’s weired.

Is it not allowed to do this way?

but other properties seems working well, except datapoint.
This problem is similiar to that, when “copy & paste” between projects. The datapoint property can’t be copied to the new project. Seems B&R put a restriction on this to prevent risk?

The datapoint information is stored in so called .dso xml-files for instance in Logical\VCShared\DataSources. I do think you have to adapt also these files.

thank you. I didn’t notice this file’s existence.
After some more experiment, it seems if one datapoint name is incorrect(not created in new project yet), all the modification will not be accepted. it’s my bad, too many variables to manage.
