Is there some way how to be in touch with news, release data, known issues? For example:
Issues - I have problem with visu, because there was known problem for developers, but I don’t find any page, where will be list with issues and specific versions. It would be great to have something like the github “issues”. I know “RelInfo”, but it’s published too late.
Version - when there is some problem, which is fixed in new version, so tell, when is planned to release.
News - I think it’s been a year since I’ve seen any mention of AS Code, but it’s always been luring in great features, but there hasn’t been a planned release date.
Recently, I introduced a new tag: Topics tagged innovation_2025. I also asked a colleague to find time to technically introduce a new innovation or feature here at Community. So, you can subscribe if you’re interested, and you’ll be notified every time something new is posted. I hope that it will be used more and more often.
Issue and Version: Here, I would split into two time periods:
Before Bug Fix:
The list of issues to fix is not publicly available. You have to contact the official B&R support, who will inform you whether your reported issue is known and in which version it is planned to be fixed.
After Bug Fix:
With the introduction of the mapp system, we also introduced a “fix” time plan for new version pre-releases and releases. Therefore, you can expect a new version every quarter for mapp
Every time you report an issue, you will receive information on which version of the respective component the bug fix will be included. Based on the information provided above, you will also know the timeframe for the fix, “more or less”
AS code, like all other innovations, has an internal timeline for releases. With innovation, proper planning is always challenging. Therefore, while we have an internal plan, it can shift over time, making any official timeline just a tentative plan that you cannot fully rely on. Here’s what you can do:
a) Ask official support.
b) Ask here.
c) Subscribe to the tag I mentioned above.
The first release of AS code is scheduled for JUNE 2025, but don’t expect a complete product. I’m not entirely up-to-date, but I expect the first version of AS Code to include:
a) A modern editor for development with all the features you’re accustomed to.
b) You will still need AS6 to cover all other functionality.
AS Code should be introduced to the community around its release date. I have confirmation from the project manager regarding this.
Hi @kovarj ,
I think, that news over community is OK, but mabe better do it in separate category than in info and ideas and search via tags (better for new people). Sharing a tentative release date would be very nice, as it would allow us to calculate in advance and possibly wait for some new technology before, for example, developing it ourselves. Of course, I understand that deadlines are difficult to meet, so I’ll take that as an estimate. I have been reading some articles on LinkedIn about AS Code for about a year, but there is no date anywhere and I have not been able to get into the beta.
Trouble would also earn their category. It’s something that can be tracked and I ran into a bug with OPC UA, for example, where it logged out after a while. It was known to tech support, but by the time I figured out from the logs what was wrong, I could be informed ahead of time. So there the problem persisted for me on 6.1, 6.3 wasn’t there yet and on 6.0 there were other problems again. If it’s a problem to communicate publicly because of cybersecurity, I’d be all for sharing via email, for example.
