Hello there,

for quite a few months I always try and try again to use AS Code, but the overall experience has been frustrating, demotivating and not pleasant at all.
Therefore I’d like to ask if someone else is experiencing similar issues or has some solutions to share.

As for installed versions: AS 6.3.4.31; AS Code 6.4.1

  1. Issue

    Whenever I try to open my current AS project in AS Code, the tree under “PLC coding” keeps loading forever, I can’t open any subfolders. The just display the loading icon and thats it.
    Recently I discovered how to “solve” this issue - but I believe this is no viable workaround: Disable the entire internet connection on my PC, open AS Code again and it works like a charm. This issue led me to try with several AS Code versions over the last few updates but with no improvement to just not use AS Code.

  2. Issue

    So today I wanted to try AS Code again, also for testing the AS Copilot feature in terms of commenting, only to discover, that AS Code now cannot licsence itself anymore with my still valid single user license (as stated by AS6). CodeMeter just throws a bunch of API errors.
    2025-12-04 10:12:21: Entry (xxx-xxxxxxxx:xxx) not found - Event WB0200 (ENTRY NOT FOUND), Request IP-Address local(IPV4)(current user) with NoUserLimit
    2025-12-04 10:12:21: API Error 200 (ENTRY NOT FOUND) occurred!

As much as I want to try and maybe adopt to the new software, this is not helping and rather keeping me completly on AS6.

Any ideas from the community on how to maybe solve the issues?

We also ran in a couple of issues, but as we were already collaborating with AVM we came across their BooST extension for VS Code and switched from using AS Code to using BooST in VS Code. Sorry to not be able to help with your exact issue, but at least offering a workaround if you want to use a modern code editor. I’m sure after some time B&R will have AS Code production ready…

Thank you Emanuel for this suggestion. I will have a look into it over the holidays.
I do agree with you, that the AS Code at some point will be fully functional - it’s just a waiting game haha.
