8V1045.00-2 replacement

Hello everyone,

We would like to ask if anyone knows the correct replacement procedure for the B&R 8V1045.00-2 drive.

We would like to understand:

  • if parameter backup/restore or parameter porting is required during replacement,

  • how the parameters can be transferred to the new unit,

  • which software/tools are needed,

  • and if there are any important precautions or compatibility issues to consider.

Any documentation, experience, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards,

Hi,

First I have to say that I’m not a motion specialist, but I know that here in the community the’re many experts active, which will for sure share their experiences.

I think it could be helpful to give some conrete information about the PLC that is used, the fieldbus connection to the drive (I assume that’s POWERLINK, right?), and best-case the the information if you have the software project, and which version of Automation Studio was used for development.

But, and this are the good news: as long as there’s no “very special constellation”, you don’t need any special software, parameter files, or other tools.
As B&R uses a central firmware + parameter storage approach since a very long time, normally you just have to exchange the hardware physically.
Then, after a restart, the PLC detects the hardware change and will update the firmware + parameters automatically via fieldbus.

Hi @Renaissance ,
I see you made a post with more details about your hw: B&R CP 260 3CP260.60-1 2005 Backup and restore - Ask Questions / Programming - B&R Community

Are you talking the same machine?
if yes on your CPU (quite old)

there is no powerlink or CAN build-in interface, but you have an additional 3IF671.9 CAN interface card:

so I assume you have a CAN communication with your ACOPOS.

as you wrote in your previous post:

Additionally, we would like to ask:
if someone from B&R can directly support us for this activity;
or if there is a specific contact/person/team experienced with legacy CP260 / SG3 systems that we can contact.

I think if you call our Support in Italy or talk with our Sales team you can see different options you prefer for solving your issues.

Ciao
