Does the P77 Support Closed-Loop Position Control?

Good morning,

In some of our applications, we use ACOPOSInverter P86 to perform position movements using an encoder acquired directly through the inverter and implementing high-level position control directly in the controller.

Now we need to replace the P86 with the new P77, which also allows encoders to be acquired directly from the inverter.

While taking the online course on the P77, I noticed that, as with the P86, it is possible to control them via mappMotion or DirectControl. For the P86, even with the use of mappMotion, it is only possible to perform movements in speed and not in position, while the online course for the P77 talks about closed-loop position control via mappMotion.

Is it therefore really possible to use mappMotion to perform native closed-loop position control via the P77?

Thank you,

Nicolò

Hi,

the ACOPOSinverter P77 will be supported by mapp Motion starting with V6.6.0 via a new library: McAcpInvAx
The position control loop is running on the PLC, all other control loops run on the drive.
The PLC sends set velocity values cyclically to the drive.

There is an Engineering Sample with the new library available based on mapp Motion V6.5.x, which you can request via your local Support/Sales team.
