WHy cant i connect a rs485 interface module IF1030 along with BC8083. According to the Help it should allow .but not in HW designer

You need to use an X20BC1083 to utilize an interface card on the PLK bus controller.
The X20BC8083 is used in combination with hub expansion modules (X20HBxxxx), to expand the number of PLK ports at the drop.

if i am remember correct the X20BC1083 does only support the DTM-Fieldbus Interfaces with the -1 in the Ordercode.
The Filter in AS does not show the X20IF1030.
But i am not sure were in help this info was. But i am pretty sure that it was some were.
I think the X20IF1030 is only usable on an X20CP-Interface Slot. Like Automation Studio shows here.

thanks Micheal for the reply.. I have a remote device on RS 485 . The remote station has also IOS. But i am not sure how to connect a 3rd party device on RS485 ??

Depending of the needed Bandwith a X20CS1030 may be an option behind a BC0083 in the field. If the question is about cabeling, and cable lenght.
I am also not very familiar with RS485 but normaly it means, you have to read the Documentation and implement some kind of drive Task (Serial Communication). As there are no Standards around.
Please consider limited Bandwith due to X2X-Bus Communication
EDIT: If you name your 3rd Party device you can try to finde some here already used it.
