Is it possible to run on the same device Linux apps and an automation studio program?

No - this is on that device not possible.

For the automation studio (AS) program, you need a real-time system, so a hypervisor is a solution. This device can also be used for IoT and for running your app in a container.

I’m beyond excited about the X20 Edge Controller – it’s absolutely brilliant!
A massive thank you to the B&R team for this incredible work. Bringing traditional software development and Docker containerization into the machine automation world is nothing short of revolutionary.

The possibilities this opens up are just jaw-dropping, and it’s amazing to see how your innovation is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in our field.

I’m hoping to share some use cases we’ve already implemented with the community soon – your efforts deserve to be celebrated with real-world examples!

Time’s a bit tight right now, but I can’t wait to dive deeper and contribute. Huge props to the B&R team – you’ve outdone yourselves with this one!

Hello Andreas! Thanks for your kind words.
Looking forward for your use cases that you solved with X20 Edge

Hi,

Since we have the new IoT edge controller, it would be nice to have an easy way to get X20 IOs into it. I created a Python script that provides a class for the X20BC0087 bus controller.

Hi,
I tried to make a pull request with Sourcetree, but I got a permission error. Do I need to request write access?

Nice!
This is exactly what I needed. I’ve been working on something similar for the last two weeks.
Now I just need to verify it with X20BC008T.
Nice work, Stephan! :clap::clap:

Hi Tomas,
this will only work with the X20BC0087. At some point I would like to check the X20BC008T but I am not sure if that bus controller works without a full TSN network.

Stephan

Stephan,
Yes it can run withoun TSN network, so it can run as X20BC008U
I had already tested serial communication as is desribed here:

Only downsite, it publishes flatstream from X20CS1020/X20CS1030 cards

I am about to order the X20 Edge and am very interested in these topics. Could you please update the links or give me permission?

Thank you!

Hello,

As i am not a Forums-Admin or Product Manager i can not update the links above.

But one of the links seems to try to link to the Product on the Website.

The correct Link should be:
