Mapp View – Visualization freezes cyclically / “Lost connection to configured OPC UA server

Hello everyone,

during machine production, our mapp View visualization freezes cyclically for a few seconds. In the runtime log, we repeatedly get the following message:
mapp View Server: Lost connection to configured OPC UA server (serverAlias: “”).

After the connection is re-established, the Line Chart widget stops updating and remains frozen until the visualization is restarted.

System setup:

  • Panel PC 2200

  • Runtime version: P4.93

  • mapp View version: 5.24.7

The issue occurs only during machine operation (under production load), not when the machine is idle. During the freeze, the UI becomes unresponsive for several seconds and then recovers automatically.

Questions:

  • Has anyone experienced similar behavior with mapp View or OPC UA connection drops?

  • Could this be related to CPU load or system performance during high production activity?

  • Any recommendations for diagnosing this issue?

Could be caused by high CPU load. This can be quickly checked via the System Diagnostics Manager or more in detail with Automation Studio and the Profiler.
