Havin some issues installing the latest PVI utility on WIN 10. The install.exe will open and after I click on the language and get to this page the installer will freeze when clicking “install now”:
You can hear the windows noise when clicking anywhere on the installer but nothing will really happen. No error messages or timeouts, it will just stay there until you close the window from the task manager. Seems like maybe a simple solution but I can’t seem to figure it out.
This sounds like maybe there was the Windows UAC popup somewhere on your computer that needs to be approved. (The ‘Windows noise’ comment reminds me of the # of times i’ve run into this with installations). Normally the popup from Windows UAC takes over the screen but i’ve seen plenty of times it didn’t.
Can you try and check your open applicaitons to see if there’s an icon that looks something like this?
same symptom, windows noise when you click on the installer screen after the first click on install now. No further pop ups or prompt…
Any additional suggestions? I am also going to have IT take a look and confirm its not my computer, but I have just installed another application with no issues.
Sometimes after you download the files they can be blocked as a security measure, which can yield strange behavior during installation. Can you go to the .zip that you downloaded from the website, right click on it and select Properties? Then check if this “Unblock” box is here:
If so, check the box to unblock the file, and then unzip it and run the installer from there.
