Hello Everyone,
My name is Ralph and I am new here and currently supporting a machine that uses the Acopos P74 inverters, which is now obsolete. I have seen that there is a retrofit option called P74NEW. My question is: when replacing a defective P74 with the P74NEW retrofit, is it a direct replacement where only the node address needs to be changed, or are there other considerations to keep in mind?
Additionally, I would appreciate any recommendations for a long-term solution using the latest Acopos Inverter technology to ensure future reliability and support.
Thank you!
Hello Ralph,
im not sure but:
When you take the project and try to put in a new p74 inverter. There is no difference to choose wether p74 or p74new. Also i couldn´t find any different hardware upgrade.
Therefore i guess you should be able to change the inverter without any changes in your project

Hello,
The original Automation Studio project (with P74) does not require an update to use the P74new.
My Source is from 2019 but i think it is still valid.
Edit:
In 2021 there was an adaption of the P74new IO-Pins assignments to match the old P74.
When you change the Device you can have an eye on the IO-Pining assignments. But as we have 2025, i think it should be the new design which mates. The change was only about the Texts.
Greetings

Raimund, thank you for your answer. The P74 new order has been placed and I am excited to try it soon. I will keep you guys posted about the result.

Update: The P74NEW has been successfully installed and is working properly. I changed the node address and entered the motor data, and that’s all it took! Thank you all for your assistance!
P.S. Color black Acopos P74NEW looks great!
