Server connection error (please check if cookies are enabled)

Hi,
i have embedded a visualization of a plc into the visualization of another plc using a web viewer widget.

This triggers the message “Server connection error (please check if cookies are enabled)” in the browser.
The problem is described in the help under Situation 2:

https://help.br-automation.com/#/en/4/visualization/mappview/guides/diagnosis_new/client_fehlermeldungen/serverconnectioncookieserror.html

For the moment, I have applied the solution of using an old Chromium version.

However, I am wondering if this issue is being worked on and if it will be possible to use up-to-date browser versions in the future. The mentioned browser flags have been removed, and Chromium version 83 is now very outdated.

I think that sooner or later, a customer who values updates will not accept a 5-year-old browser version…

Or are there other ways to embed two visualizations into each other?

By the way, this problem does not occur with current Firefox versions. Is there any reason not to use Firefox?

Thank you.

Hello Mr. Herderich,
regarding “However, I am wondering if this issue is being worked on and if it will be possible to use up-to-date browser versions in the future.”:

Please try to change the visualization that should be embedded to https. In newer Chrome versions both visus should use https.

Regarding “Is there any reason not to use Firefox?”:

“It is possible to use other browsers (especially on mobile devices). Firefox, Internet Explorer and Edge are known to cause display problems. It is therefore not advisable to use these browsers.” (see B&R Online Help (br-automation.com))

Using HTTPS indeed seems to help with the issue of embedded visualizations. However, you first need to ensure that the browser accepts the self-generated certificates.

In my project, though, there is another component embedded in a web viewer that currently operates unencrypted. This is now causing problems.

But I understand. For the moment: old Chrome or new Firefox. With Firefox i haven’t noticed anything being displayed incorrectly or behaving differently.

Thank you.
