Hi,
As far as I understand, the library AsEthIP is not suitable as a scanner.
But you can add a PLK interface to the PC and add a EtherIP Scanner - Interface X20IF10D1-1 by using a X20BC1083 bus coupler.
(assuming, of course, that you are running the PC with an Automation Runtime)
Hi Christoph,
I want to communicate with a motor drive, but I don’t want to add more hardware. Also, Modbus TCP is not an option in this case.
Tank you
What communication protocols does your drive support?
As Christoph said, there are two ways to use a B&R controller to communicate via EtherNet/IP:
Unfortunately, the library can only turn the B&R controller into an Adapter device, but not a Scanner device. The EtherNet/IP protocol requires all Adapter devices to talk to a single Scanner device. This means that unless your drive can be a Scanner (which seems unlikely), you would either need to add hardware or use a different communication protocol.
The drive has Ethernet/IP and EtherCAT natively, but I have the option to add a Powerlink card to the drive, which I was trying to avoid.
Since it seems it’s not possible to achieve this with the existing hardware, my best solution is to add the Powerlink card to the drive.
Thank you all for your help.
