3rd party devices in IODD DTM Configurator not showing up in AS 3rd party device manager

Hello, I downloaded an XML from IODD Finder for an IO-Link device I need for a project, which I then tried importing via the 3rd party device manager. It then started an automatic update of the DTM Catalog, but the device does not show up in the list. When I tried importing again, it says that an identical file has been imported previously, and when I check the IODD DTM Configurator, I can see that it is there.

I tried reinstalling AS6 and reinstalling the B&R DTM and starting everything in admin mode. Nothing worked unfortunately.

What am I doing wrong? Does anyone know how I can fix it?

Kind regards,

Patrick

Hello,

Due to your description i think you did not had the chance to test it on an other PC. Can you Provide the XML File and the used B&R Module number of the IO-Link Device.
If this would happen on an other PC as well, the issue could be the XML File.
If it does not happen on other PC it would be an Installation issue.

Hello, my colleague hast the same setup as me and it works for him.
I guess it might be an installation issue. Can you tell me how i can make sure everything from B&R is gone so i can perform a clean reinstall, because there are always some leftover files when uninstalling.

Thanks
Patrick

Hello,

Before you go the long way of uninstalling again, can you try to delete the Tempfolders in this Directory. Its a hidden Folder so you have to change settings to see it.

Move the contend for example to the Desktop, as far as i know everything in this directory will be recreated from the Studio when you open it.

It helped sometimes in the passt with issues due to open editors or similar.

If i reinstalled Automation Studio in the past, i only used the normal uninstall and deleted afterwards the Installation location if there was something left.

Hello,

I tried what you suggested, and it unfortunately did not help.

After that, I tried uninstalling everything and deleting all signs from B&R for a clean reinstall. This also did not help.

I am now completely lost on what to do. How does the 3rd Party Device Manager find the IO-Link IODD files? Maybe something is broken.

This is the device I am trying to use.

When I imported the module via the Device Manager, it only shows up in the IODD DTM Configurator and not in the device list of the device manager.

I have tried other devices, which also don’t show up.

Hello,
As it looks like this will need a deeper investigation i would recommend that you contact you local B&R Support department.

Hello,

I had a discussion with a other user. He had a similar stiuation with the 3rd Party Manager. In his case there was the Dot.NET Framework 3.5 missing. Can you check on the two PCs the one which is working and the one which is not if on both PCs DotNet3.5 is enabled in Windows.

Greetings
Michael

Hello,

.NET Framework 3.5 was indeed not installed, and after activating it, it now works perfectly!

Thank you very much for your support in this matter.
