Hi,
I have a PLC with an 5apc2100.by01 PC, unfortunately the 5apc2100 reboots in any case to service mode. Trying to connect with AS logger, the 5apc2100 reboots again and logger only shows 3 lines. This is a endless loop.
My question, is there a serial console to see the boot messages from 5apc2100?
Thanks.
Hello Walter,
If the APC2100 isn’t staying on long enough to obtain the logger via online connection, I’d recommend that you use the CF / CFast card method of the linked Service Mode guide to look at the logger. You will need a CFast card reader for this.

To address the direct question:
The APC2100 doesn’t have an RS232 port as a programming interface. If there is an RS232 interface card (ex. 5ACCIF01.FPLS-000), then you could theoretically connect using the RS232 interface using serial INA. You would face the same issue of reboots that you saw with an Ethernet connection, and it would be much slower.
Best regards,
Austin
With the help of the local B&R office, we determined that the CFast card is defective and triggers the reboot. Since the PLC reboots for no apparent reason, nothing is written to the logger, which is why we are asking for serial access to view the error messages from the VXWorks kernel immediately before the reboot. If that is not possible, it is unfortunate.
Glad to hear you got to the bottom of the issue.
If Automation Runtime (or VXWorks) isn’t booting enough to write entries into the logger, then there’s not enough of an OS there to send information via a communication interface (serial or otherwise).
Best regards,
Austin
