ACOPOS 1045 with Powerlink - Test with automation studio

Hello everyone and happy new year,

I would like to test the functionality of an ACOPOS 1045 drive which communicates via Powerlink. I already have an automation PC with a 5LS187.6-1 interface card which can apparently only be controlled via the automation runtime and not through Windows (except if the deprecated ARWin is used).

Since I just want to test the drive, I was wondering if there is a simpler way, even with different hardware (a Powerlink PLC for example).

Thank you in advance for your help and support.

Hi,

ArWin (or its successor ‘Hypervisor’) ist just one way to run Automation Runtime on a B&R Automation PC.
The other way is to run Automation Runtime on this PC in a ‘native’ way e.g. without Windows.
But ultimately, all B&R PLCs with a Powerlink interface can control an ACOPOS (I can’t think of any exceptions to this rule).

Thank you for your prompt reply Mr. Hilchenbach.

Since this procedure will need to be performed just for this drive (bench testing basically), can we use some kind of trial version for Hypervisor or do we need to order the Technology Guard dongle and a valid license?

Hi,

First of all, Hypervisor must be available for your PC, which only applies to the newer APCs.
For simple tests, you might want to use Automation Runtime Embedded instead, i.e. without a GPOS.

You need a license for everything.

As far as I know, however, only the LEDs flash and an entry is created in the logbook if you don’t have a license.

Thank you for your prompt and efficient support Mr. Hilchenbach.

The situation is much clearer now. The PC should be new enough (APC 910 with TS17-00).
