Adding Additional RIOs for Redundant PLC without Downtime

We are currently using X20CP3686 - Redundant PLCs.

We are using 5 RIO’s, We have to add additional RIOs for the same CPU. Can we add those without Downtime.

I’m not sure about “RIO” - do you mean Remote IOs?
If yes, it depends on if the Remote IOs are already configured in the project but just not connected - if yes and you’re using a fieldbus with hot-plug capabilities (like powerlink), then you can add them.
But if those IOs aren’t configured yet in the project, you have to add them first on project software side. Unfortunately, I don’t have experience with redundancy, but looking into the project installation sequence for redunant systems, at least it looks like that it could be possible by updating first the non-active PLC - but as I said, I’m not so familiar with CPU redundancy, so I’m not sure about:
