Controller redundancy combined with double ring redundancy

Hello everyone,

I would like to configure the following double ring redundancy in Automation Studio.

I have successfully configured the controller redundancy using two X20CP3685 CPUs. However, I would like to add another X20CP3685 as a controlled node within the same project.

The challenge I’m facing is that Automation Studio does not allow adding a second CPU to the same project.
Could someone advise on how to properly configure this third CPU as a controlled node.

Hello Alvin,

You need to create a new Configuration for your third PLC. So open Configuration view and create a new configuration.

After you have configured your third PLC and one (or many) of its Powerlink interfaces as a controlled node, you can add it to the main configuration as an intelligent controlled node (epl_icn in toolbox).
