Additional Ethernet port with an TCP/IP gateway

Have you ever had the need to add an additional seperated Ethernet port to an existing or new machine configuration, but all the onboard interfaces were already used and there was not the chance to add an interface module for any reason?

B&R offers an interesting and efficient solution with the X20HB8815 (POWERLINK TCP/IP gateway) which can be added to the existing POWERLINK network. The module enables the exchange of all types of application data (HMI, diagnostics, parameter data, OPC UA data, Going online with AS, IoT applications …) between a POWERLINK V2 network and a TCP/IP network. It functions like a layer 2 switch, with the exception that cyclic POWERLINK packets are not routed to the ETH port.

The IP address which is accesible from the outside can be freely configured within Automation Studio like the configuration of any oder device.

Example 1: Online connection with Automation Studio or SDM via POWERLINK

Example 2: Terminal panel connection (web terminal or VNC terminal)
