APC Login Credentials for Windows

Is there a proper way to use a APC with Hypervisor with a Azure Login on the Windows Operating System, whilst still using a Filedevice for saving settings files in a .csv?
The customer has to get rid of the “terminal” user…

Hi Michael,
if you use Hypervisor the runtime OS and Windows OS are completely separated from each other. That means Windows logins can be used as if the Hypervisor was not there. The runtime will still have a save file system with 4 partitions including a user partition where you can store data from the runtime.

Hi Stephan,
Thanks for your fast reply!
This means the (VC4) Visualisation can be accessed by any user on the internal Network Connection using the VCWT?
Can i create a Device-access to the USER partition?

Michael

Hi Michael,
yes, the terminal user makes the following adjustments.

But you can also start VCWT in application mode. In this case, you have to do the adjustments yourself. I am not sure about

Can i create a Device-access to the USER partition?

Do you want to access the runtime user partition from windows?

Stephan

Hi Stephan,
Ok maybe we can start this with a autostart operation…

Yes we are currently writing a filename in .txt file on a device Link space to save a screenshot of a diagramm …
So we would also need to access the file with the filename in it to be accessed by the windwos function

Hi Michael,
the question with the file access is a different topic and not related to the login question, right?

You can not access a folder in the runtime directly because there is no file sharing option in the runtime. You can use FTP to access the file from windows, but that would require an FTP client. What you could do instead is creating a file share in Windows and then access that file share from the runtime with the function DevLink.

Stephan

Hello Stephan,
Correct, it is a different topic than the login in windows, but can you access the filedevice if you delete the “terminal” or “admin” user and access as “everyone”?

If the Windows share is configured for everyone, it should work. But just because you add the APC to a domain network does not mean that cannot have local users. You just log in as a domain user. You could still have additional local users and use that local user for your network share for the runtime.
