I am experiencing an issue with ARsim in Automation Studio. As shown in the attached image, ARsim gets stuck at:
BR Automation Runtime I4.90 booting…
and never switches to RUN mode.
I have already tried all the solutions suggested in various forum threads (e.g.: restarting the service, rebooting the PC, running Automation Studio as administrator, reinstalling Automation Studio, checking firewall/antivirus settings), but the problem persists.
Could you please provide further checks or a definitive solution to unlock ARsim and make it start correctly in RUN mode?
Automation Studio version: 4.9.6.42 or A4.12.8.37
Operating system: Windows 11
Have you ever tried it with a different AR version? I know that there was a problem with the simulation in one of the AR versions, but I have no idea anymore which version was affected…
Another thought is that one of your programs’ INIT tasks could be stuck. When an INIT task is running there is no cycle time monitoring, and the online connection to ARSim doesn’t usually happen until the cyclic portion of the programs starts. If you have an endless WHILE loop for example, you’ll never be able to get into RUN mode in Automation Studio even though ARSim is running.
If it doesn’t work for any project, and the result is the same for multiple AR versions, then my guess is that something on your computer is blocking ARSim from running correctly.
From this past thread, it could be related to the Windows Defender Firewall.
Just a blind tip,do you have admin rights on your PC? Can you try starting your AS as administrator? Do you have an IT department in your company? Maybe they could take a look,it could be the firewall, Windows Defender, antivirus, or some other local IT service that’s blocking it
Adding on to Jaroslav’s suggestion, there were a lot of things tried in that thread. The end result was that even though Widows Defender Firewall was inactive, something was still blocking ARSim. There usually isn’t anything special you have to do to get it to boot; it should come up just fine even with a new, blank project. I think it’s best you contact your IT department and ask them what could be blocking the software. It could also be a network issue as ARSim has to bind to the local loopback adapter.
