Dears , I have B&R Power Panel 44PC70 , was running on machine , suddenly the panel at startup show word " Boot" , and nothing happen as shown in the photo.

Now I have USB attached in the display and it suppose include the panel software , it contains files as per the attached photo , how I can load the software to the
panel.

Thank you

Hi,

I’m sorry I can’t dig deeper into right now because I’m out of office, I hope someone else here can help.

But: from the names and the structure of the data, i’m pretty sure that this content isn’t the project software.
It more looks like user data (data that is read/write from the PLC user application, it’s not the project software itself).

Best regards.

Thank you for the replay , So If I have another same Power panel running perfect on another machine , Can I take image from this panel and install in on the defected Panel ?

Hi,

the PLC uses compiled (binary) modules, so loading the project code from the PLC isn’t possible. In theory, it could be possible to load the binaries, but there’s no easy way to do that and it isn’t guaranteed that it would work.

In your case, unfortunately I don’t think that it’s possible because the BOOT mode indicates that even the operating system itself is missing.

As I understood, the panel was in normal operation before, and there was no maintenance on the machine, no changes in software, updates, and so on?
If yes, unfortunately I’m pretty sure that something in the device is damaged / broken: it’s absolutely un-normal that a operating device is setting itself to boot-mode, in case of errors in hardware or software, normally it switches to serv- or diag-mode.

So, in my opinion you should contact the machine manufacturer for advise.

Best regards!

Thank you , it is really helpful for me your explanation to try to troubleshoot , So as I understand from your discussion that the operating system itself is not exist on the panel now , and this could be due to Hardware defect or software and probably it could be hardware.

Yes That machine was running perfect and next day it show the boot screen without and update or change in software.

For the possibility of software defect , I tried to connect with the panel using Automation Studio and it give the info in the attached photo , Can I install the Automation run time on the panel ( As I understand it is the operating system) ?

If yes , How I can do this ?

Really appreciate your patient and cooperation.

Best regards

Hi,

it looks like that you can connect to the boot AR of the PLC, yes.
The Automation Runtime version the PLC has reported, is this boot AR (J4.08), which is a minimized AR stored in a different memory than the full-featured AR + application, and is suitable only for setting up the complete operating system.
So it should be possible trying to transfer a complete AR. But be aware that this won’t recover the application software, the hardware configuration, or anything else of the data that was running on the PLC before.
It would only be a basic test if the AR can be transferred and installed onto the PLC, and if the status of the PLC will change after it.

Transferring an AR is done by setting up a (empty) project with the suitable hardware inside Automation Studio, and connecting to the PLC and transferring it online, or by setting up an USB stick for install the device from this stick (when device is in boot mode).

I can remember that the’re several threads here in the Community about the procedure how to initial install a device that doesn’t have exchangeable storage, but I have to search for them first to link to them.

Best regards.

Edit:

please see here more about online and offline installation:

And here’s a very good article with background information for a factory reset:

Dear Alexander,

Thank you for the support , as I understand from you , that AR J4.08 is for inside PLC ?
After some study from help I found this photo which sorta help me to understand the meaning of AR version !

I have tried a lot to find this version J4.08 , but I could find it on B&R software download , the close available version is J4.10 , and When I tried to transfer online through Automation Runtime transfer , it loading and after finish the loading bar it gives " Transfer failed".

I don’t know , where can I find this version AR4.08 ?

Hi,

The J4.08 you see in boot mode is a factory-fixed onboard version that only enables online communication and operation system transfer in boot mode (and because you’re in boot mode, you see that version right now).

But for a new project/ for test purpose trying to transfer a full-featured Automation Runtime, you can use the lastet available version (I can’t check right now, but I think it’s some 4.93 version).

Best regards.
