it looks like that you can connect to the boot AR of the PLC, yes.
The Automation Runtime version the PLC has reported, is this boot AR (J4.08), which is a minimized AR stored in a different memory than the full-featured AR + application, and is suitable only for setting up the complete operating system.
So it should be possible trying to transfer a complete AR. But be aware that this won’t recover the application software, the hardware configuration, or anything else of the data that was running on the PLC before.
It would only be a basic test if the AR can be transferred and installed onto the PLC, and if the status of the PLC will change after it.
Transferring an AR is done by setting up a (empty) project with the suitable hardware inside Automation Studio, and connecting to the PLC and transferring it online, or by setting up an USB stick for install the device from this stick (when device is in boot mode).
I can remember that the’re several threads here in the Community about the procedure how to initial install a device that doesn’t have exchangeable storage, but I have to search for them first to link to them.
