What is Conversational Help
Conversational Help, powered by KARLI, is the intranet chatbot of B&R Industrial Automation GmbH. Primary role is to assist B&R users by providing accurate and relevant information from the Online Automation Studio Help, B&R Support FAQ and B&R Community Forum.

- Code Examples: If your query involves programming, It can provide fully functional code snippets with explanations.
- Educational Resources: It can guide you on how to access training modules, webinars, and other learning materials related to B&R Automation Studio.
How to use it
1.Data source selection
You can select which data source Conversational Help should use to generate an answer to your prompt. I would always select the forum. Help V4 or Help V6 depends on which Automation Studio version you are using.
If you don’t know or have no preference, just select all options.
2. Prompts window
Input field for your first question or for clarifying an answer. It works the same way as, for example, ChatGPT. The quality of the answer always depends on the quality of your prompt (see good and bad question examples below)
3. Answer from AI
Output field. Read the answer and ask an additional question if the answer is not clear.
4. Links
A useful part of the answer. Conversational Help will not only provide you with an answer but also links to Online Help or forum discussions. Always check the links—they will not only help you get additional information but also help you determine if the AI-generated answer is valid.
5. Ratings
Rating is a very important part of working with AI. Use the thumbs-up or thumbs-down to classify the answer. You can also provide a link or comment with your rating. This is a crucial part of AI learning
How to Ask a Good Question vs. a Bad Question
A good question should be clear, specific, and detailed enough to allow me to give you the best possible answer.
Good Question:
“How can I install Automation Studio step by step, and what should I do if I get an installation error?”
This question is specific (installation of Automation Studio), detailed (step by step), and anticipates possible problems (installation errors).
Bad Question:
“How do I install it?”
This question is too vague. It doesn’t specify what “it” refers to, and it lacks details about possible issues or what part of the installation is unclear.
Q&A
-
What language can I use for prompts?
The system is designed and tested with English prompts. However, you can use your native language—Karli will automatically translate it and respond to you. So yes, you can, but you will get the best answers when using prompts in English. -
How to start with?
Use the good and bad question examples mentioned above, and try them in your native language as well as in English. This will help you understand how your question should be structured. -
I tried it but the answer are not precise?
It is AI, and it works the same way as ChatGPT and other chatbots. So, you always need to verify the answer. But all these platforms are getting better and better.
From my experience, it works very well for basic questions. For more complex ones, it can at least provide new ideas or guide you to where you can find the information you’re looking for (e.g., AS Help links or related topics in the B&R Community)
