Automation Studio Licensing (regarding the point „offline licensing")

Offline licensing for a TG-based license:

When activating dongle-based licenses (e.g. 1TGSWAS.SNG.00-01) via offline licensing procedure.

the following error message could be thrown out.

The license 1TGSWAS.SNG.00-01 cannot be activated through offline licensing on the corporate website, as it is a dongle-based license. Offline licensing for dongle-based licenses is only possible with the TG tool (For detailed information please see Automation Help > Automation Software => Technology Guarding => Operation (licensing) => Offline dongle licensing via license file

As for the future (AS 6.x) we currently do not know which type of licenses will be “invented” by our product management. So we cannot say if the whole process will change with AS6.

Offline licensing for a SW Container-based license:

Customer (on the PC with Automation Studio):

See sales notice 34 / 2017, just regarding point 4.8 (if a certain customer PC is not connected to the internet …, files can be transferred somehow, …)

Additionally available Info in the setup menu …

After selecting the license container, create the “request file”:

Click on License activation to start the wizard. Follow the wizard to create a request file.


Again “Next”

Remember the path and click Commit:

Transfer this file to an online PC

Send the file and the license key to your B&R Contact.

Actions for B&R Support

After getting the *.WibuCmRaC file from the customer please open the “offline licensing page” on our homepage

Enter the customer’s license key, which you got additionally with the *.WibuCmRaC file, in the field shown enclosed, and press send:

In case of a valid key, a new line appears where you can upload the *.WibuCmRaC file

After the positive check of the file an actualized (unlock) file can be downloaded; (extension *.WibuCmRaU).

Send/transfer the file to the customer’s offline PC with Automation Studio.

Actions for Customer (after receiving the license file from B&R employee):

Double-click it in Windows Explorer.

             > **Alternative**: You can also drag and drop the file into the "Codemeter" program if the method described above does not work

Automation Studio is now licensed successfully.

Legacy Offline Licensing (via System Code)

Offline licensing with legacy licenses (1A…) or with old versions of AS/SD still works under this link:
