Information about Power Panel C650?

Hi,

is there already any (preliminary) further information (display sizes, interfaces, … / datasheet, hardware files, …) about the new C650 available? I want to check, if it could be suitable for a new project and if so, also start developing.

Greetings Christian

Power Panel C650 builds upon the capabilities of the successful Power Panel C70 and C50 ranges, offering four times the processing power and
twice the storage capacity for improved speed, design and scalability, in a future-proof solution.

Some key facts from innovation brochure.

If I’m not mistaken, optimized version of mappView will be used together with this hw. So great successor of C70 and VC4.

Hi Christian,

At series release there will be only 2 different variants of C650 available:

4PPC650.0702-020 (7.0inch WVGA display, 1xETH, 2xUSB, 1xPLK, 1xX2X, 1xCAN, 1xRS485, 1xRS232)

4PPC650.101E-020 (10.1inch WXGA display, 1xETH, 2xUSB, 1xPLK, 1xX2X, 1xCAN, 1xRS485, 1xRS232)

At the beginning they will have only VC4 visualization support until MappView for C650 is released (end of year 2026 or later).

With MappView for C650 also additional display diagonals will be available.

Best regards,

Markus

thank you Markus, do you know time planning for first release?

Before Summer 2026. For exact timeline you have to reach out to Product Management.

Thanks. any other questions @istech ?

Hi Markus,

first, thanks for the information.

Do you know, what additinal diagonals/resolutions are planned?

And is MappView for C650 compatible with the yet known MappView (structure, bindings, …)? Does it make sense to start development with an ARsim and an actual MappView and could it be easily switched later?

Christian

Are there any (preliminary) hardware files available?

I hope that is not a false promise. But you can join the group of testers; if you sign a disclaimer contract, you will get the HW file for C650 as well as the unreleased version of mappView. For that, you have to contact sales at your local office. For new possible applications, it makes sense to do so. You can work in full simulation, and mappView, from a development point of view, is compatible—if I’m not mistaken. For C650, we have a special viewer in AS, so you won’t use a browser. This is the biggest difference, I would say.

Hi @istech, any other questions?

The next planned diagonals are 12.1inch WXGA (1280x800 px) and 15.6inch FHD (1920x1080 px).

I don’t know the effort that is needed to switch a actual MappView application to “MappView for C650” because development is not finished yet. MappView for C650 will use new Widgets that are similar to the actual Widgets but not the same.

Hi,

I’d like to give some more details for this question, mainly to prevent confusion and false expectations!

Well, yes and no.
Both versions are actually pretty much the same … same backend, same editors, same concepts … so you have bindings, event-bindings, session variables, scripting, widgets, etc … all you know from mapp View. So there is no real difference.

The difference is in the widgets and styling.
mapp View for PPC650 will use a different (!) set of widgets, which is optimized for this class of device and a more streamlined styling.

This highly depends on what is your expectation.
mapp View for PPC650 is still work in progress. We have already a large set of widgets available, but for sure you will not yet be able to do everything you know from mapp View (e.g. we do not yet have charts, …). Things might also change, forcing you to adjust or even redo things … It is also possible that some things simply do not yet work as expected.
As I said, work in progress!

If you refer to starting with the engineering sample (→ Jaroslav), probably yes. As written before, you might need to adjust some things (e.g. properties of the widgets, styling, …) but in general it should be doable.

If you intend to start with todays mapp View and expect to “switch” to the PPC650 version later, this will not really work. As mentioned, the PPC650 version uses a different set of widgets! Currently it is not supported / intended to “switch” from the standard widgets to the PPC650 widgets (and vice versa)! There will also be not all widgets and properties available for the PPC650!

Hope this makes things more clearer.

Thanks for the detailed informations.

@istech I Closed the discussion as a solved (‘answered’ in your case). I selected last reply as one with the most valuable information. BUt feel free to change it
