Installation - Aprol 4.2 07

After creating a VM with the APROL-AutoYaST-DVD-V4.2-070.0.230102-SLE12-SP3.iso, downloaded from this site, I went through all the installation steps as detailed by the manual.

Once the AutoYaST installation has successfully concluded, it brings up the screen asking for a login, and after that, states “Sie können jederzeit als Systemadministrator (root) durch die Eingabe von ‘AprolInstall’ am Prompt die Installation von APROL starten!”

So far it’s the same as the manual. However, once I press enter on the command to install Aprol (AprolInstall), it brings up this new screen, where it sits idle, not doing anything:

It doesn’t matter how long I wait, or how many times I restart the VM, in the end it won’t budge from that screen. At first, I thought it might be the version it installed, or that it didn’t install correctly, so I’ve tried it multiple times with different versions, all with the same result.

PS: I’ve also tried with Aprol 4.4 and I get the same screen.

What am I doing wrong?

Which Aprol Installation media do you use?
The Autoyast iso you mentioned does not contain the APROL system software. There are separate DVDs, Blurays (dependig on version) for the Aprol system software.
If you mount them after the autoyast installation the command to the installation should be “AprolInstall -name /path/to/your/dvd.iso”.
Hints:

  • With command “AprolInstall - help” you should get help about the command.
  • I am not 100% sure about this one but I think only small Letters are allowed / possible for the hostname of the Server. So aprolMachine would not work.

I recommend to use the latest release (R4.4-01) for new Installations / projects due to cyber security.
