Is it possible running both Automation Studio versions (4 and 6) side by side

Is it possible to have both Automation Studio version 4.12 and Automation Studio 6 installed on a laptop without much effort? The background is that during the transition period to AS 6, it would be ideal to have both versions on my laptop. Additionally, we still have many X20CP1382 units in the field with our customers, which are no longer supported by AS 6, but I might still need version 4.12 for troubleshooting or diagnostics.

Yes this is possible, without any additional effort. Just install both versions.

I can confirm, both versions run side by side without any issues, we’ve been doing it for a few months now (since AS6 was publicly released).
Only “downside” I encountered was, that having both AS versions open doesn’t allow for dual simulations.

Dual simulations should work. They can’t both be at 127.0.0.1, i.e. put one on 127.0.0.2. If you want to use VNC with simulations, they will also need to be at different ports.

This is a important note, I didn’t even consider changing localhost addresses. I’ll have a go at it and report accordingly!
