Machine Vision Lightbar Flashes but Camera Captures Black Image

Hello everyone,

I’m currently working with a VSLL11R20.67AP-000 (lightbar) and a VSC123R22.051P-000 (smart camera).
I’m experiencing an issue during image acquisition: although I can physically see the lightbar flash when I trigger the camera, the captured image is completely black (I’m not using the camera’s internal flash).
The lightbar works perfectly fine when I capture images using mapp Vision HMI

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

  • Followed the steps in TM1610 – Working with Integrated Machine Vision, particularly section 5.2 on lightbar synchronization.
  • Set the netTime of the lightbar to match the camera’s netTime.
  • Set parameter for lightbar (FlashColor / ExposureTime / SetAngle)

Has anyone faced this issue before? Any suggestions on what else I could check?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @alvin.lim
here you can find an example, what I did to synchronized the lights and the camera.

Hi Vanessa,

Thanks for the reply. The only differences between your example and my application are:

  • I used separate bool to trigger camera and light. But they are turn to TRUE with the same condition.

  • Different nettime calculation:

Eventually, my lightbar nettime is equal to my camera nettime.
Other than these two things, I did the same as yours and the training manual.

Please feel free to let me know if you got any other idea what is wrong.

Hi @alvin.lim

Did you use the same Exposure Time for the camera and light?

The FlashColor is only for the light.
