I have been doing some testing with my BnR Panel PC 900 and a domain controller to implement Active Directory user management on the Panel PC’s users.
I have everything connected and the users I have implemented on the DC side work. My goal is to use local users and users authenticated by the DC, so I have the setting on MpUserX set to “Local and central”. What I find is that if the DC is powered on and connected, all users can login and work fine. If the DC is powered off, the DC users AND the local users are no longer able to login and use the panel.
A Summary of detals:
- mapp Services 5.15.0, Panel PC 900, AR Embedded, mapp View
- MpUserX Type set to “Local and central”, Active Directory over LDAPS on 636
- Domain login works correctly, roles map correctly from AD groups
- With the DC unreachable, no login succeeds: not pre-existing local users, not users created at runtime through the HMI
- Persists across a warm restart, so it isn’t session or connection state
- Setting Type back to “Local” restores local logins immediately
