Maximum Axis limitation with SLX811 module

Hi all,
What is the maximum safeaxis number with SLX811 safety card? I have connected 5 axis and It says that all modules OK, but doesn’t go to safety run. In some cases It says 4 axis and in some 6 axis?
Also I have 6th axis which is not safemotion and should I get a license for it?

Tobias

Hi,

Regarding the maximum numbers: Link

Regarding licenses:

Looks like you need mapp Axis "Premium" in case you want to use more than 3 axes

The X20SLX811 is limited in terms of data bandwidth, memory size and processor time.

In the technical data, B&R Online Help, the limit is identified as 4 SafeMOTION axes. Basically the SLX811 can only handle the processing needs of 4 SafeMC blocks in the safety project, (i.e. processing time, memory usage).

It can only handle the data bandwidth for 10 openSafetyNodes. (One dual axis drive is one openSAFETY node).

So even though you might have 5 drives communicating just fine, the SLX can only handle 4 of the SafeMC blocks executing.

Double check your safety logbook, I believe there should be an error there indicating why you haven’t gotten into SafeRUN yet.

Hi,
Thank you for your answer.
I’m not using mapp Axis so there shouldn’t be a limitation as I know from past.

Hi Matt,
So basically I have to upgrade my safety cpu in this case?

Yes, a X20SL81xx.

Unfortunately, you are limited to one SLX per regular PLC.

@c601891 Can I use SLX card as regular safety input card and buy an X20SL81xx as main safety PLC?

You can use the SLX as a secondary Safety PLC. I.e. process it’s inputs locally and send a combined signal to the X20SL8100. You would use the normal SL to SL communication methods to do this.

The SLX doesn’t have an IO mode where it functions as IO module instead of a SafeLOGIC processor, at least not that I’m aware of in my experience with the module.
