In our portfolio we are introducing new generation of Microsoft Windows. Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 2024 LTSC. They introduce several advantages over Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2021 LTSC, making it a more attractive option for embedded and IoT devices. Below are the key improvements:

Product key stored on hw
- The product key is stored internally on the PC from production, so the OS license activation is done automatically during the first startup after installation or reinstallation from the recovery image.
In summary, Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 2024 LTSC provides superior connectivity, security, customization options, and device management capabilities compared to Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2021 LTSC.

System requirements :

System memory: 4 GB are defined as the minimum memory size in the IQ configurator.
The specified memory size is a minimum requirement according to Microsoft. This means that memory-intensive applications (e.g. a Web Visu) are only possible to a limited extent.
B&R therefore recommends the use of 8 GB or more. -
Storage size: 64 GB are defined as the minimum storage size in the IQ configurator. -
Display resolution: According to Microsoft requirements, Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 2024 LTSC requires resolutions of 9" diagonal 720p HD (1280x720) or larger to allow full operation of the Windows interface (e.g. for system dialogs).

IMPORTANT: Windows 11 Enterprise IoT 2024 LTSC will be released as a service
As previously mentioned, we have decided to release Windows 11 Enterprise IoT 2024 LTSC as a service due to the upcoming Cyber Resilience Act.
What does this mean for customers?
The process of ordering a device with the new GPOS remains the same from the customer’s perspective. We will continue to install Windows 11 Enterprise IoT 2024 LTSC in our production as before.
What has changed:
- We will regularly update the image with the current Windows Updates.
Differences from previous versions:
- Security settings are set to Micrsoft’s defaults (e.g. automatic updates are enabled).
- Performance settings are set to Microsoft’s default.
- The recovery image is no longer available.

FIELD UPGRADES
Field upgrades are only possible from APC4100 and xPC3200. No other existing platforms support Windows 11 Enterprise IoT 2024 LTSC.
The easiest way to update your PC is to send it to the repair department. B&R offers this service to its customers.
Changes to the previous field upgrade procedure:
The customer must create a recovery image from a previous order of Windows 11 device.
