Tension controller tuning

Hello Community,

I will be tuning the tension controller. I see it in the Help about controller tuning. In the help it says ‘set line speed to zero and change step’, what does change step mean here.
I need more descriptive information about this controller tuning.
Or what are the things I need to do step by step?

Thank you in advance for your experiences.

Best Regards,
Fatih

Hi,

a step change is a (close to) immediate change between a low (or 0) value to a high value in the setpoint (or vice versa)

The graphic here shows such a step change

As I am not aware of any autotuning methods in MpTension I think this short explanation is referring to manual tuning using such a step change and observing the response manually and setting the parameters.

One example of such tuning would be Ziegler-Nichols - see here: Proportional–integral–derivative controller - Wikipedia

I had quick look for a short tutorial and found this being probably helpful:

Try starting with the values in the boxes and fiddling around with them until you are satisfied with the controller quality.

I hope this helped a little
