X20SDxxx & X20SIxxxx - LED status indicators B&R

Hi everyone, can someone help me understand the meaning of these LEDs ?

(manual) ?

Hi @zouhir-01 ,
Welcome to the community!
Without SystemDump is not easy at all help you, but as you ask we start from LED Status:

Super basic questions:

  1. Are you building the machine and check all hw/sw now?
  2. The machine was running fine for a while and now you have a problem?

Thanks for the reply.
I’m still a complete beginner with B&R PLCs.
We often use Schender or Siemens PLCs, but this is my first time with B&R.
I have two machines running with the same configuration and PLC, and one day I encountered this issue.

I’m also looking for manuals or helpful videos for this new PLC.

Hi @zouhir-01 ,
we have a customer that I think has reported your issue (The “S/E” led is in constant Red):

where the issue was related to a broken module.

I need your feedback to understand the status of your SE LED, as described in the manual: constantly lit “SE“ LEDs indicate a defective module that must
be replaced immediately
. From the pictures you have uploaded is not clear that.
You can make a short video and upload to this post to clarify the status.

Now it’s my turn for questions:
Do you have Automation Studio installed on your laptop? If yes which version?
Do you have the source code of the project?
If one Safety module (yellow) is broken, you need to replace that + you need another sw, SafeDESIGNER (+ password to connect to SafeLOGIC) to acknowledge the new module.

You have my respect Zouhairt! You are working on Safety installed on your machine with no AS training and no Safety training.

In your case, I guess, you don’t need to change the code but troubleshooting the issue, you could start with module TM920 Diagnostics and service:

Log in to our website and download that.

Hello,

I think you should also place the Status of the SafeLogic X20SL.. or X20SLX… ,which is somewhere in the machine, into context.

A X20SL… does have some LEDs an can be diagnoed without additional Tools.
A X20SLX… does not have LEDs , its status can only read out via Remote Diagnostics or a CoustomHMI.

For me it just looks that the Modules are in PreOperational and not accessed via the SafeLogic.

HI @zouhir-01 ,
fortunately in both modules SE LED is NOT on all the time, so they are not broken.
As Michael said we need to get more information, which SafeLOGIC are you using? Which main CPU are you using?
Can you make a picture to show us all B&R components you have in your cabinet/s?

SL-SafeLogic is “big yellow block“ can be independent from your X20 I/O rack:

SLX is “in the middle“ similar position of your X20SD1207 or X20SI2100:

I hope today you can send us a SyStemDump (you find guidelines on TM920 too).
At the page 55 of TM 920 you see a customer visualization that normally our customers integrate in their
visualization for monitoring the Status of Safe Logic or to download the application or for acknowledge commands.
Have you have seen that before on your hmi?

Thanks

Hello,

the Video is quite short, so i am not sure if we can read out the LED indication Status via this Video.

Here is the Link to the Documentation.
LED-Status

As it is a SLX which has little LED info overall.
I would recommend to get a Technician via Remote or Onsite to diagnose the Error.

If you know the IP-Adress of the PLC you can try to connect to the SDM and read out the logger.

http:\IP-Adress\SDM\

Even if we identify a module which is defective you would need a service Technician after replacing the module. The Safety has stored all Serial Numbers and if you exchange a Module you have to acknowledge the Module. On an SLX this Acknowledge can only be done via Software. Only a normal SL has a Hardware Interface for Acknowledge.

Michael
