We are receiving more questions about X90 and Multi-core:
-
Can X90 support Multi-core? no, as the 2nd core is used for PLK and if you change settings for the onboard-IOs.
-
If I have a powerlink interface, but I don’t use that, Could I allocate task to other core? no, that’s not possible.
-
What about the other multicore functions, like OPC UA (Non-Hard RT Tasks)?
From AS I see it’s possible, but I asked a confirmation to R&D, waiting for a feedback.
Answer:
the X90 CPUs have 2 cores, see Response time. The second core can be e.g. used to off-load the IO handling
-
Can I run cnc program on X90? Very light application 2-3 axes (mapp Motion, no Legacy ACP10). If yes, can I enable SMP, symmetric multiprocessing (Non-Hard RT Tasks)?
X90 PLCs use the same processor as X20CP0484. The range of functionalities should be the same. The second core on X90 PLC is reserved for i/o so only one core left for PLC.
Thanks Carl for your questions and Harald, Roman and Corne for your answers.
Ciao
