About changed DS438A TO DS4387

The EU have two types of hardware IO LINK, namely DS438A and DS4387. For some reason, the EU now wants to use D4787 to replace DS438A and wants to know how to configure it in AS,DS4387 CAN NOT import Device file. The following file is the .LDD file of DS438A.

Hello Jianing

I would try to stress at the EU that the X20DS4387 is obsolete material.
Replacing the X20DS438A with it doesn’t make sense as you would make it more complex imho.

Good luck with the EU.

First of all, thank you very much, Jan

Yes, that’s right. EU used to be DS438A, but due to delivery issues, the old DS4387 is now used on this machine, which comes from the existing inventory.

But we are currently encountering this problem. When switching from DS438A to DS4387, EU has no idea how to configure it in the AS.

No more information is provided in “AS help” either. So do you have any experience to share or do you know where someone has written about it?

I would be most grateful

You can define per IO-link interface how much data is going in & out. How the data is structured you might be able to find in the device file.
If you need to configure the device, you can use the parameter I think but I only used the X20DS438A so not sure.
Good luck!

Good luck!

As you may notice in the Automation Studio hardware catalog, the X20DS4387 supports only IO-Link Version 1.0 that does not support IODD files.

X20DS438A is a Version 1.1 master that does support IODDs.

So your customer cannot replace the module 1:1.
