APC910 PLC battery discharged after replacing

WE have an APC910 installed in our additive manufacturing machine. The notice comes up that the PLC battery is discharged. We have followed the manual and replaced the battery 3 times and still get this message at start up. APC 910 tag is: 5P91:469781.005-01. The machine will start a build and then during the build the following message pops up: Hardware Control System has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program. When the Close the Program pop up is selected the screen goes to all white and is unresponsive. Is there a fix for this?

I’m not sure but this looks like too issues for me. Lets start with battery, after replacement would be maybe necessary to enter BIOS and set RTC time again. In BIOS as well as in Control Center you can check battery state.

Hello Jaroslav,

Thank you for your response. We have updated the BIOS when machine is restarted (F2 enter BIOS and enter correct date and time) and then did Save and Exit. We continue to get the PLC discharged message. We test the old battery with a voltmeter and get 3.24 volts and check the installed battery and get 3.24 volts as well and a new battery that is not installed gives the same.

Could we have a connection issue with the battery contacts in the battery slot?

All the best,

Mike

According to manual. Battery state should be visible in BIOS, can you share picture with us? If is it BAD or N/A I would try another one or could be of course hw failure.

Hello Jaroslav,

Thank you for your advice. Attached is a picture of the battery voltage as GOOD at 3.16V.

Any thoughts on why we continue to get the battery error?

All the best,

Mike

Are there any PCI interface cards in your system that come with their own battery, like the Powerlink 5LS182.6-2 card, that might trigger the battery warning?

Hello,

Just to add an idea of how the Card will look like and where the Batterie would be. You have to open the housing of the APC to reach this Batterie.

Greetings
Michael

Hi @MMowins , have you found the proper batter that triggered your alarm?

There are two places in our machine that use the same battery. One is in the APC910 which we replaced many times and still had the error message. We recently learned of a second battery that is installed in the PLC unit and when we replaced this battery the error message stopped. Thank you for your support on this issue.
