I am just starting out with automation studio 6 and I am trying to follow the introduction to the software ‘LampTest,’ but whenever I run the simulation this error comes up. I followed the tutorial exactly so I am not sure what this could mean?

Do you have a “Standard PC” as the CPU in your hardware tree? That controller type will only ever run as a simulation. The error is just telling you that you can’t activate the simulation as it’s always already active. You should be able to continue the tutorial past that point with no issues.
Hi Marcus, thanks for your response. A colleague of mine suggested that use the X20CP1686X controller instead, but whenever I try to set that as the CPU it says i’m missing a valid AR sim version. Do I need to download a specific upgrade for this?
Yes, you’ll just need to download the corresponding Automation Runtime version. You can do this by going to Tools → Upgrades.
