Automation Studio 6.7 installation

Hello,

Has anybody encountered this issue while installing AS 6?

The installation of PVI V6 has been aborted with error code 1603.

I have opened the installer with administration rights. (Install.exe)

Also have tried to open installer inside Setups folder with administration rights but same error pops up. (Automation Studio.exe)

I have successfully installed the PVI only installation “Automation Net PVI V6.exe” But when starting the installer I still get the same error.

Hi Matic,

Error 1603 is a general Windows error while installing programms on windows.
I searched our issue database: Often the reasen is the installation of CodeMeter Runtime. You could try this:

  • Uninstall CodeMeter Runtime manually from Windows Apps/Features
  • Reboot PC
  • Restart AS installation
  • That should hopefully fix it.

If this does not fix the issue, please contat your local B&R Support.

Hi Matic,

I’ve seen this error before. During the installation of AS6, an older version of CodeMeter was uninstalled. Reinstalling the current version of CodeMeter didn’t fix the issue in my case, but maybe in your case it could help already.

You could also try installing the current Technology Guarding version as well, if you haven’t already:

https://www.br-automation.com/de-de/downloads/software/technology-guarding/technology-guarding/

(Please uninstall the old TG version first).

Once you’ve installed the current TG version and CodeMeter and restarted your PC, you can try installing AS6 again.

Additionally:
When you extract the zip file for AS6, please check the “Properties” of the zip file first. There’s a “Security” setting there. You can check the box for “Allow” in case there might be an access issue on your end.

Hello,

The solution was to uninstall CodeMeter 8.20.

When the installation was aborted with error code 1603 the CodeMeter was actually not visible in Control Panel / Programs and Features.

So I had to install the CodeMeter 8.20 back again, rebooted the PC, and then uninstalled the CodeMeter 8.20 and rebooted again.

After that the installation went trough without problems.

Also the current CodeMeter installed is 8.10b, maybe problem was I had a higher version of CodeMeter?
