I am trying to scope a project to establish communication to a Siemens S7-300 from a B&R PLC. I haven’t yet decided which B&R PLC I am going to use, but i want to find out
what would be the easiest way to achieve this and the most cost efficient.
Communication between the Siemens PLC and the B&R PLC is just to transfer over some counters and fault codes from the S7-300.
Just want to confirm. So if I use a X20cCP1584 thats should be fine correct? WOuld i require any other modules or will this plug staright into the PLC.
X20cCP1584 has one slot for interface modules. So if this slot is not already used, you can use it for one of the mentioned IF modules. Make sure to also use a coated IF module, like the PLC (X20cCP1584).
I just would like to mention that a simple data exchange can also be done without any additional interface.
If the data is not time critical or deterministic you can also use Ethernet port and send UDP or TCP frames (I suppose the Siemens PLC also offers a Ethernet interface)
