I hope you’re doing well. I have a CPU X20CP1381 and I want to back up the program. I did some research and found one solution that involves taking an image of the CF card via RUC, but this isn’t possible since the X20CP1381 doesn’t have a CF card slot. The second option is to use Open Project from Target, but it’s not guaranteed to work.
So, I’d like a clear answer: is it possible to retrieve the program? If yes, how can I do it? If not, please let me know.
if you have at least Runtime F4.34 or newer on the controller, you can use mapp Backup to create an image of the flash memory on the controller and then save it to your computer using an FTP client.
You can find further details on how it works here: B&R Online Help
Thanks for your answer. Could you please explain a bit more? I checked the B&R Online Help, and it seems that in order to use mapp Backup, I need to have the program source, which is not the case for me.
you can only create an image of the flash on this controller (X20CP1381) using the Mapp function. Unfortunately, this isn’t possible without a project. For controllers with a CF card, you can create an image using a card reader.
