I would like to enquire about the installation environment requirements for the X2X and X67 modules:
Can they be installed on a moving mechanism? If so, what are the maximum speeds and accelerations they can withstand?
Hi,
it’s not easy / possible to be answered with a blanket statement, it depends on various factors including mounting, cabling (+ used cables), connectors, and so on.
In common, most of the X20 and X67 modules fulfill the standards defined in various EN standards. For details you can check the X67 and X20 user manuals, chapter “Mechanical conditions” sections “vibration / shock operation”.

Hi,
over the last years, I’ve seen some applications / machines where parts of the B&R equipment were mounted on moving mechanisms, but from my understanding that’s not a prove ![]()
I personally don’t know any EN standard or similar for control systems, that’s defining how “mounting on moved mechanisms” is specified and has to be approved, so it’s hard to answer…
can you name a standard, so that we could check those definitions against EN 61131-2 and EN 60721-3, which are defining among other things some environmental conditions like vibration and shock resistance?
About the vibration and shock resistance in operation:
- X20 is designed and tested according to the standard EN 60721-3-3 Class 3M4.
- X67 is tested according to EN 60721-3-5 Class 5M3.
