How to transmit more than 8 bytes of safety data via openSAFETY between X90 controllers

Hello,

I am configuring safety communication between two B&R X90CP174.48-S1 controllers using openSAFETY over UDP.

My application requires more than 8 bytes of independent safety data to be transmitted cyclically between the two X90 controllers.

However, in my current openSAFETY over UDP configuration between two X90 controllers, I can only find one SafeDOMAIN Connection, and I cannot find any option to add another connection.

My questions are:

  1. Is it possible to configure multiple SafeDOMAIN Connections between the same two X90 controllers when using openSAFETY over UDP?
  2. If yes, where can additional SafeDOMAIN Connections be added or configured in Automation Studio / SafeDESIGNER?
  3. If multiple SafeDOMAIN Connections are not supported for openSAFETY over UDP, what is the recommended way to cyclically transmit more than 8 bytes of independent safety data between two X90 controllers?

For example, I need to transmit:

  • 6 signals of 8 bits each
  • 32 signals of 1 bit each

Therefore, the total amount of safety data exceeds 8 bytes.

My environment is:

  • Controller: B&R X90CP174.48-S1
  • Automation Studio: 4.12.6.106
  • SafeDESIGNER: 5.24.1.0
  • Communication: openSAFETY over UDP

Thank you for your support.

Hello,

If i have a look in the Datasheet of the Device is must say this looks like a hard limit.

Max. Number of Data 8 Bytes
Max. Number of Links 1
