Incomprehensible error message during compilation of project

Hi

I compiled my project and received the following error messages:

  • Creation of the I/O image access object failed. The object reference was not set to an object instance.
  • DTM ID or list index not found.

The project had previously been compiled successfully. In the meantime, only a minor change had been made to the source code.

I found out that it concerns a connection between a DP master with a dp/dp coupler and a PN master with a connection to an X20IF10E3 slave of a third-party controller. There is at least one other connection of each type in the project, but these do not cause any problems.

Unfortunately, I am unable to proceed based on the error message. Can anyone provide me with further information about these error messages?

Hardware and software information:
AS 4.12.8.41 SP
X20CP0484-1 V1.8.1.0 / AR Q4.93

Best regards,
Michel

Hi @MichelOetterli ,
I understand your frustration but I don’t know how I can help you.
Normally when one of my customer reports similar issue, I ask the prj to see if I can reproduce the issue and together we try to figure out the cause of the problem;
this kind of investigation I see more for Support level 1 and not for level 0.
Most important as you reported you are stuck, an additional point where Support in your local area is the better channel.
What do you think?

Agree with @valerio.manenti — this is really specific and PC-related; you will need assistance from colleagues in local support.

Hi all

I worked quite intensively on the problem yesterday and today. In the end, I was able to fix the problem by deleting the faulty devices. I then cleaned up the entire configuration of the project and reinserted the devices. The project can now be compiled again.
However, I still have no idea what caused the problem. I suspect that it is due to the PC system. I will continue to monitor this and report any new findings.

Thank you for your help!

If you find anything that could lead to a bug report, please get in touch with the local B&R office. If it’s just findings that can help others, share it here. Thanks
